Deputy Foreign Secretary

The Deputy Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development affairs, also known as Deputy Foreign Secretary, is a senior minister in the Government of the United Kingdom, with responsibility for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, who deputises for the foreign secretary, a Great Office of State.

The incumbent deputy foreign secretary is Andrew Mitchell. The role is honorific and has no responsibilities, with the incumbent's responsibilities being derived from their role as Minister of State for Development and Africa. The incumbent attends Cabinet of the United Kingdom and the National Security Council, and reports to the foreign secretary and the prime minister.
